If the box has to go in the street
On your own lot, these rules don't apply. In the street, an alley or on the sidewalk, they do.
- You need a Street Obstruction Permit from Public Works. A few narrow short term exceptions exist.
- Apply online through ParkOmaha.com, at least 5 business days ahead.
- Include a drawing of the spot, measured to the property line, curb and corner.
- The applicant files insurance naming the City of Omaha and signs an indemnity agreement.
Ask the hauler who applies for the permit before delivery day.
Before you book, ask the hauler
- What the price includes: delivery, pickup, dump fees and days.
- The weight limit and the overage charge.
- What can't go in the box.
Prices: we have no local prices to show. The hauler quotes a real price before you book.
Straight answers
Are you a dumpster company?
No. We're a referral service and don't own trucks or dumpsters. If we find a hauler, only that one company gets your request.
Does it cost anything?
No. Asking is free, and you don't have to book anything.
When will I hear back?
We can't promise a time. A person handles each request while we sign up haulers in Omaha. If we can't find one, we'll tell you.
Do I need a permit for a dumpster in Omaha?
Not if it sits on your own property. In a street, an alley or on the sidewalk, you need a Street Obstruction Permit, applied for through ParkOmaha.com at least 5 business days ahead.
